I captured shots I never dreamed possible. My trip to Iceland with Adventure Art Photography exceeded all my expectations. Our extensive itinerary showcased all the major sites while allowing for many impromptu moments along the way. Our Icelandic guide knew history and mythology that enriched our adventure even more. October sits between autumn and winter, gifting us a rare mix of snow-dusted peaks, warm autumn tones, moody weather, and soft light that lasts all day. It’s Iceland at its most cinematic.
2. Dark skies with no moon
This is one of the best aurora windows of the year. No moon means dark skies for the entire tour—and every single night is an opportunity to chase the northern lights.
3. Photographer-friendly sun hours
With sunrise around 8:30 a.m. and sunset close to 6:00 p.m., we get those long, golden hours without the brutal 3 a.m. wake-ups. You’ll shoot sunrise and sunset every day, with time to rest, learn, explore, and enjoy the journey.
4. Ice caves open—and they’re at their best
Early-season ice caves often offer the clearest, most intricate blue ice of the year. Soft, filtered light makes them absolutely breathtaking to photograph.
5. Fewer crowds, cleaner compositions
Cruise season ends in September, which means locations that are normally packed suddenly open up. More space, more freedom, more time to create your shot.

Craig has been leading Adventure Art Photography tours since 2021. He's been taking photos and making videos for over 25 years, with a passion for people and places. Craig loves exploring perspectives, chasing light, and learning from other passionate creatives.
Craig has led Adventure Art tours to Kangaroo Island, Flinders Ranges, Fleurieu Peninsula, New Zealand, and Iceland. Every experience has been unique and life-changing, both because of the places we get to see and capture and the incredible people we get to experience those places with.
Craig is married to Nadine and has three girls who are growing up way too fast.
With 25 years of adventure photography, P-J is experienced and passionate about photography and sharing his skills and experiences with others.
P-J joined Adventure Art Photography to inspire others to experience the same creative learning and fun through photography adventures.
P-J lives in Adelaide with his wife, Michelle, and two sons who also enjoy outdoor adventures.
